Use spells and budget your mana
Open the Journal to cast an unlocked spell; you can also pin one spell for quick access. Mana normally returns at one quarter of an orb each night, so spending a full orb takes four nights to recover naturally. A Mana Potion or a dish carrying Magical infusion restores one orb immediately.
| Early spell | What to use it for | Progression point | Mana orbs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full Restore | Refill health and stamina before continuing a trip. | Reach mine floor 10, then follow Caldarus's introduction. | 1 |
| Summon Rain | Water your crops; it can also help create rock crossings over lava. | Reach the Tide Caverns. | 1 |
| Growth | Mature crops in a 3 × 3 patch or advance a tree by one growth stage. | Reach the Deep Earth. | 2 |
| Dragon's Breath | Clear obstacles and damage monsters with fire. | Reach the Lava Caves. | 2 |
Before casting Growth, check that the target patch contains the plants you want to advance. Before using Dragon's Breath near an orchard, inspect its fruit-tree protection option in Gameplay settings. Read the spell's displayed mana cost before committing.
Late-mine spell spoilers
| Spell | Function | Mana orbs |
|---|---|---|
| Void Sight | Passive visibility of Void materials in the mines; no repeated activation is needed. | No cast required |
| Sacred Light | Lights dark Ruins floors for five minutes, continuing between floors. | 1 |
The late spells belong to the Ruins storyline. Follow the mine quest route and check your Journal after receiving a spell rather than trying to equip a passive effect as a tool.
Choose an infusion before spending crafting materials
An infusion adds an effect to an eligible item. Unlock the matching skill perk first, then craft the correct item type and inspect the result; an unlocked perk does not guarantee that every craft receives the effect. Each crafted item has one infusion slot.
| Crafted equipment effect | Benefit | Eligible type |
|---|---|---|
| Fortified | +4 health while worn | Armor/accessories |
| Hasty | +4% movement speed while worn | Armor/accessories |
| Tireless | +4 stamina while worn | Armor/accessories |
| Sharp | +1 attack | Weapons |
| Leeching | Heal 1 health per monster hit | Weapons |
| Lightweight | Chance of stamina-orb drops during use | Tools, excluding fishing rods |
| Food effect | What it changes | Required perk and dish |
|---|---|---|
| Restorative | Health and stamina regeneration | Restorative Cooking |
| Speedy | Movement speed | Speedy Cooking |
| Likeable | Item treated as a liked gift | Likable Cooking |
| Lovable | Item treated as a loved gift | Loveable Cooking |
| Fairy | One revival after fainting | Four-star or higher dish and Fairy Cooking |
| Magical | Recover one mana orb on consumption | Four-star or higher dish and Magical Meals |
Quality applies to crafted items and adds 10% to their sale value. Some purchased or rewarded items already carry an effect, so inspect what you own before preparing another batch. Use the cooking reference for dish requirements and tool guide for equipment materials.
To target a particular crafted effect, visit the farm shrine and temporarily disable perks for unwanted compatible infusions. This narrows the available effects; it does not make infusion rolls certain. Restore those perks when you finish crafting for that purpose.
Weapon oils are a separate decision
Before choosing an oil or recrafting an item, distinguish the two systems. The checked Infusion revision lists 15% base crafting infusion chance, 20% with Empowered I, and 25% with Empowered II. After a successful roll, each unlocked, compatible effect has an equal chance of selection; this is not a separate 15–25% roll for every effect.
The source's code analysis suggests Empowered affects all crafted items, not only blacksmithing, despite the skill descriptions. Whether that is intentional is unknown and it may change with updates. Lightweight's 10% stamina-orb drop chance is also code-derived. These are revision-specific findings, not permanent guarantees. A crafted infusion cannot be replaced; change the perk setup before making a new copy.
Fire, Ice and Poison Snake Oils apply weapon effects after forging. While active, Fire gives 1.25× damage; Ice attacks slow enemies by 50%; Poison attacks add five seconds of poison damage. Do not treat an oil as a way to reroll a permanent crafted infusion.
If the expected effect is missing
| Check | Action |
|---|---|
| Matching perk not unlocked or disabled | Check its state at the shrine before crafting again. |
| Wrong item type | Match the item to the eligibility table; fishing rods cannot receive crafted infusions. |
| Fairy or Magical on a low-star recipe | Select a four-star or higher dish. |
| Correct setup but a plain result | The craft can still fail the infusion roll; budget materials for that possibility. |

Essence, Essence Drop and money are different resources
Essence starts dropping from skill-related activities from Spring 3, Year 1. Interact with Caldarus or the mine statue, open the perk menu, choose the perk and spend the displayed Essence cost. Woodcrafting, refinery recipes and Mist Spots can also consume it, so reserve their stated costs before buying another perk.
Essence Drop is a monster-loot item, not the same currency balance. Do not bring Essence Drops to pay a perk's cost. Tesserae (t) is money used in stores and story repairs, earned through shipping, quests, treasure and other rewards; it does not replace Essence either.
Special story-equipment restrictions
The Dragonsworn armor pieces and Hero's Ring are quest equipment, not ordinary anvil recipes. They cannot be crafted, bought or sold, and cannot receive a crafted infusion. Do not budget repeated forge attempts to reroll their effects.
